Literature Text

I feel the world
Crumbling.
Lovely,
Quite the sight.

I felt my mind uneasy,
I ran,
I skipped and fell.

The world
Came to an end around me.
Beautifully,
The skies collided.

I saw the flowers
Melting.
I saw the oceans rising.

Millions
Of butterflies
Shielded me from the sun.

And the world
Came to an end, so slowly.

I felt the rain,
In scattered patterns.

I saw the earth
Cease to rotate.

I heard the cries
Of millions more

Right outside
My door.

I heard the moons
As they broke apart.

They shattered the surface,
And continued to fall.

The world
Bent into shapes
I'd never seen before.

The clouds,
They darkened.
But remained colorful.

World
Was never perfect
Until It ended.

Rotating,
So daringly.

The ground
Turned purple.

The sky
Went black.
As I saw the stars
Cease to shine.

Roses emerging
From mountain tops.
Animals grew wings.
And they escaped.

I felt
My vision leaving me.
And I cried out,
The beauty would leave with it.

I heard the children
Laughing.
The world was truly beautiful.
The dreams had finally woken.

Carried,
I felt at ease.
Finally,
The would could please us.

So complex,
Yet simple in It's beauty.

And then I woke up.
Inspired by:
Alice - Cocteau Twins
It's a beautiful song.

On a side note, most of the mental image that powered this particular poem came from the book: "Lovely Bones".
